A new version of Google’s Android SDK pre-release is out. From ars technica it looks the changes to the API can affect already developed Android applications. Google has also added an issue tracking system, and improved the UI. Other new additions include layout animations, geo-coding, new media codes, improved Eclipse plugin with a new manifest editor. As more and more retailers gravitate towards Blu-ray over Toshiba’s HD DVD, rumors are afloat, that Microsoft is going to dump HD DVD for Blu-ray in the X-Box. X-Box with Blu-ray could be out around May 2008.

Apple releases Aperture 2

Aperture 2, Apple’s photo editing and management tools, with over 100 new features, is now available at the Apple Online store, selling for $199, and upgrades for $99. If you are Windows user, then Adobe Lightroom at $299 is your option.

Lightroom is a better tool than Aperture is many aspects, and seems like it was built for photographers by photographers. So, it will be interesting to see how Aperture 2 fares.

Using browser history to improve user experience

Niall Kennedy shares a neat little trick, along with examples, for improving user experience by using JavaScript to sniff visited links from a user’s browser history.

“Sniffing a visitor’s browser history has good and evil implications. An advertiser can determine if you visited Audi’s website lately, drill down on exact Audi models, and offer related information without ever placing code on the Audi website.”
