Oil up 8%, could hit $150 a barrel

Oil prices shoot up to $138 a barrel, a gain of $11 in a single day, making it the biggest gains ever. This speculative rise is supposedly due to a 1% drop in value of the dollar, Israel’s transportation minister, Shaul Mofaz, stating an attack on Iran’s nuclear sites looked “unavoidable.”, and Wall Street forecasting that oil will hit $150 a barrel next month due to rising demand in Asia.

Looks more like speculators looking for any reason to keep bumping up the price of oil. I wonder at what price world economies will start crumbling!?

Obama-Clinton Ticket Not A Good Idea

Jimmy Carter on the Obama-Clinton ticket, “the worst mistake that could be made”!

“If you take that 50 percent who just don’t want to vote for Clinton and add it to whatever element there might be who don’t think Obama is white enough or old enough or experienced enough or because he’s got a middle name that sounds Arab, you could have the worst of both worlds,”

If Clinton is more of the old, then she is not the change that Obama is looking for, so my guess is—he is not likely to choose Clinton as his running mate.

Microsoft’s 216 MP Ultracam

Data generation at 3GB/sec, 14 CPUs and 216 MP, Microsft’s Ultracam is insane! This is the camera behind the imagery on Virtual Earth.

“The results of this improved technology include: urban mapping with minimization of occlusions, Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) with no spikes or holes, ortho-photo production from only the most central image portions, and support of automated image analysis.”

Viygo

An embeddable timeline, which can extract information from twitter, facebook, upcoming, etc. and display on a timeline, which can then be embedded on any other web site.

Viygo is the intersection of space and time–a map of events creating a timeline for the world–from personal to public. The world is changing. The way in which we record our lives and world events is changing. From blogs to social networking to video, the world is telling its story each day, every hour, on the web. But these events exist outside of a framework of time–Vigyo is that intersection.

Here is the twitter public timeline for example:

Google Friend Connect: any app, any site, any friends

Google to announce a preview release of Friend Connect, a new service which will allow any site to provide social features by tapping into existing social connections. Sound like more Google junk to add to the sidebar! First it was Google Social Graph, and now Google Friend Connect.

“Google Friend Connect is about helping the ‘long tail’ of sites become more social,” said David Glazer, a director of engineering at Google. “Many sites aren’t explicitly social and don’t necessarily want to be social networks, but they still benefit from letting their visitors interact with each other. That used to be hard. Fortunately, there’s an emerging wave of social standards — OpenID, OAuth, OpenSocial, and the data access APIs published by Facebook, Google, MySpace, and others. Google Friend Connect builds on these standards to let people easily connect with their friends, wherever they are on the web, making ‘any app, any site, any friends’ a reality.”

It does not look like Google has go the right Social networking service yet, but let’s see what Friend Connect brings and how it fares.

McCain admits he did not vote for Bush on O’Reilly Show

Arianna Huffingtion reports McCain’s Freudian slip on The O’Reilly Factor, admitting that he did not vote for Bush. But soon after McCain goes on to say that he did vote for Bush, both in 2000 and 2004.

Doesn’t admitting having voted for Bush, especially twice, make one look stupid! What makes people vote for these fools?!
