Of the estimated 7000 languages in the world, many are disappearing faster than extinction of living things, and linguists are trying to records some of these languages before their demise. As mediums like the internet, television etc narrow the communication gap, more and more languages are going to die, and pretty soon we will probably be left with a handful of languages and their dialects.
